WHO IS SN SUBRAHMANYAN?
SN Subrahmanyan, often referred to as SNS, has spent his entire career at Larsen & Toubro. He joined the company in 1984 as a Project Planning Engineer in L&T's ECC (Engineering, Construction and Contracts) division, straight after completing his civil engineering degree from Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra (now NIT Kurukshetra), in 1982.
He later added a postgraduate diploma in business management from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, and an Executive Management Programme at London Business School.
SN Subrahmanyan was appointed to the L&T Board in 2011, became Deputy Managing Director & President in 2015, took over as CEO & Managing Director in 2017 following AM Naik's retirement, and was elevated to Chairman & Managing Director in 2023. That's a 40-year run inside one company — rare in Indian corporate leadership today.

WHAT HE'S BUILT
As L&T Chairman, SN Subrahmanyan has overseen some of India's most talked-about infrastructure projects: the Statue of Unity, the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link), the Ayodhya Ram Mandir construction, K9 Vajra artillery systems, the ITER Cryostat, and airport terminals in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Under him, L&T's infrastructure business grew into the largest in India and one of the biggest globally, with the company expanding into the Middle East, Africa, and ASEAN markets.
He also chairs or holds board positions across the wider L&T group — L&T Finance, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad), and vice chairmanships at LTIMindtree and L&T Technology Services.
AWARDS & RECOGNITION
BEYOND L&T
SN Subrahmanyan was appointed Chairman of the National Safety Council by the Ministry of Labour & Employment in February 2021, a role focused on workplace safety standards under India's OSH Code, 2020. He's also honorary Chairperson of the Board of Governors at NIT Rourkela and NIT Durgapur, and one of the founding members of the Climate Finance Leadership Initiative (CFLI) India.
